Ode to My Closet Floor
Easter candy, chocolate chips,
A pair of jeans too small for my hips.
American Girl, your doll bed is smashed,
And here’s an old check – it should have been cashed.
Some baby shoes, some easter grass,
A pair of shorts too small for my…..
One ski glove and some preschool art,
Macaroni on a cardboard heart.
This shoe has a match! And here is that book;
I’ve looked for it in every cranny and nook.
Dried up sunscreen, a bendaroo,
If I look hard, I bet there’s two.
Empty shoe boxes, five dimes, and a button.
I sure am glad I found no mutton.
I did find a mitten, small and pink –
Interestingly, it’s covered in ink.
So closet dear, you have a floor.
In another year – I'll do some more.
