Where Can You Go?
Where can you go to have a cow stare at you the entire time you bake brownies?
Where can you go to have your best friend's head disappear while she photographs the darling children?
Where can you go that your husband can pretend he's a fire god?
Or to notice how your iphone camera handles firelight?
Or to pretend you're in the hill country when you're really in east Texas?
Where can you go and be annoyed that the darling children watch The Mummy 8 times?
Or take cool pictures of cool trees?

Or roast marshmallows as big as Walt's hand?
Where can you go see a million stars is a clear, cold Texas sky?
Where can you go so the men can wear Carhart jackets and play in deer stands?
Where can you go so the boys can be boys?
And where lovers of cattle and 4-wheelers, cold weather and crowded houses can sit and enjoy a lovely bonfire and star-gaze in the cold crisp night air?

Zoo Trip!!!!
I decided to take the kids to the zoo during the Christmas break. We asked Payton to come along. Alek's buddies couldn't join us. Can you tell he's still really eager to go?
We had a lot of fun. One thing that's not bittersweet about having all big kids is NOT having to ride the carousel three times in a row. I much prefer watching!

I used to take pictures of the animals. Now I seem just to take pictures of the backs of kids' heads. But they're cute, aren't they?
