Next, Nora wanted to try her luck.
From there it was a short drive to Pearl Lake where we planned to camp for two or three nights. It was a gorgeous view, but the pine beetles had so devastated the campground that the campsites had almost no shade! The sun was brutal, and the night was surprisingly and brutally cold!
But, the kids made a see-saw...
And we went fishing in the lake...
forget fishing... wading is more fun! The water wasn't terribly cold, and the sun was so hot! They were looking for stones to skip.
Then burgers and brats a la Alek! He is becoming a little grill master! Can't believe I didn't get a pic of him cooking. He cooked the whole meal!
And of course, s'mores!
Dusk on Pearl Lake
Our little abode.
Well, after a night of violent shivering and a day of skin-burning sun, we packed up and thought about plan B while spending the evening back in Steamboat Springs at a local park.
And some ice cream!
